LaToya Archibald joined the DC Doulas team in 2019 as a labor doula. Her warm heart and fun sense of humor helps her connect with her clients.
LaToya Archibald is a graduate of Howard University and has spent the last 11 years working in educational equity, environmental justice, and development. Her passion for faith, racial justice and equity in DC led her to attend a screening of “Death by Delivery” in 2018, which highlighted critical issues surrounding Black maternal morbidity. Inspired to take action after viewing the film, she completed doula trainings, started attended births, and become more involved in birth justice.
As a labor and postpartum doula, LaToya focuses on nurturing and protecting women’s memories of their birth experiences through emotional support, physical comfort, and an objective viewpoint. Since becoming a doula in September of 2018, LaToya has served 19 families and has provided 650+ hours of postpartum support.
LaToya lives in Ward 7’s Deanwood community and can be found on Instagram chronicling her doula journey as well as her comical online dating experiences @LilbitofLaLa. Fun fact: She saw Black Panther four times during opening weekend. #WakandaForever
